Let’s face it, we all stress eat. (In the last year I’ve definitely done my fair share of it.) But if you’re going to grab a snack, there are better ways to do it. So I asked Zach for some healthy(ish) suggestions for when those cravings hit and I want to munch on something. And here are his top picks!
I don’t know about all of you, but I’m a big snacker. I’ve definitely been guilty of stress eating plenty of times. Also snacking when I’m just bored, or happy, or even for no reason at all! I’m never going to tell you not to indulge, but there are healthier choices you can make that will still satisfy your cravings – without all the calories and fat.
Keep scrolling to see some of my go-to options for when the snack bug hits me.

Popcorn
When you get a craving for something salty and crunchy, popcorn is the perfect snack! It’s a lot lower calorie than a bag of chips and packed with fiber. Opt for an air popped version, or get your own air-popper and some kernels. Fill up a bowl and kick back!
What to eat it with:
If you really want to step it up then toss the popcorn in a little bit of truffle oil, shredded parmesan, and rosemary.
Dried Fruit
When I’m in the mood for something sweet I love a bit of dried fruit. They’re much better than eating some over-processed candy and can be full of vitamins and minerals. Dried apple or banana chips are great if you want something crunchy. If I want something chewy then dried mangos are like candy to me. You can also get some dried fruit strips if you want a mixed flavor, but look out for ones with added sugar.
What to eat it with:
Banana chips with a little almond butter or peanut butter are fantastic!

Dark Chocolate
We all know what it’s like to crave some chocolate. That’s why I like to keep some dark chocolate chips around to satisfy my chocolate cravings. I like chocolate chips because it’s a lot easier to grab just a small amount. Dark chocolate is full of antioxidants and can give you a great boost of energy when you need it.
What to eat it with:
Sprinkle some dark chocolate chips on greek yogurt with some berries. Then pop it in the freezer for 20 minutes before eating it, it’ll be just like a bowl of ice cream!
Guacamole
When you want a bit of dip, guacamole is one of the healthiest options. Avocados are super nutritious, contain tons of potassium, and are the healthy kind of fat. Add in a little greek yogurt which will not only keep it from browning but make it extra creamy while adding protein.
What to eat it with:
Instead of the typical tortilla chips, get some plantain chips or veggie crisps.

Parmesan Crisps
These little crackers are made of nothing but baked parmesan cooked into salted, crispy goodness. Yes they’re high fat, but they have no carbs. That means for anyone on a low carb or ketogenic diet these can be a great option to replace your craving for chips. They’re also so salty that even a few of them is more than enough to satisfy you.
What to eat it with:
I love to dip these in a bit of marinara sauce. They’re also great for crumbling up and tossing in a salad or on tomato soup.
