We’ve already introduced you to Bobby’s stylish new rug collection with Karastan (and shown you how you’re styling the rugs in your own homes.) But there’s even more to share about these fashionable floor coverings. They don’t just look good – they are also made of recycled materials – and helping to keep products out of landfills!
That’s right! Some of these gorgeous rugs are actually made from some very unexpected and sustainable materials (that you might not expect). So keep scrolling to learn exactly how these eco-friendly rugs are made – and how much waste is being turned into beautiful floor coverings!

The Sustainable Details
For Bobby’s rug line, two unique fibers are used in the construction of pieces from the collection.
-
Everstrand is a fiber made entirely of recycled content. Plastic bottles are crushed, ground into pellets, and then spun into a fiber that becomes the polyester PET material. (Approximately 670 plastic bottles are needed to create an 8′ x 10′ rug!) Besides being sustainable, Evertstrand is also durable and easy to clean, making it an ideal choice for high-traffic rooms.
-
Smartstrand is a fiber made from corn sugar. It replaces some of the ingredients normally derived from petroleum (a non-renewable resource) and has the added bonus of built-in stain resistance. Plus, every seven yards of SmartStrand saves one gallon of gasoline!
Oh my gosh Bobby!!! Can you get anymore amazing? Thank you tremendously for this 😭.
You’ve taken something that harms our ecosystems and turned it into something that adds value and beauty to our everyday lives.
It’s incredibly uplifting.
Thanks so much for your kind words! Sending you lots of love xx -B
